Painting The Land Class Mondays Term 2, 6 lessons

I'm excited to return to the wonderful Brookfield Art Pavillion in Brisbane to host this new workshop.

Having studied fine arts at university,  taught Visual Arts in High schools in Sydney for 10 years & been a practising full time artist for 8 years, i feel confident I can help ANYBODY to develop painting skills & a life long love of art making.

Spanning 30 hours over a 6 week period in term 2, students will develop  a body of work in response to the Australian bush landscape. With a focus on expressive marks & colour this course is designed to help you connect with your own inate creative self & build skills which can be transferred to many artistic disciplines.

You will develop or  expand on an understanding of how artists have  expressed the Australian landscape in their work & explore ways in which you too  can represent the land in your own unique practice.

Working predominantly in acrylics , charcoal, inks & oil sticks each lesson will build on the previous.  We will work on both paper & canvas & develop confidence across these mediums.
Materials will be provided. I use excellent quality paints & good student grade paper & canvas. 

*** Please note in week 5 & 6 there will be the option for individuals to work large scale ( 120cm and beyond ) If you choose to , you will be required to purchase the surface you will paint on, such as unstretched canvas, board etc . If not, I will have smaller papers & canvas still available. By this time in the course, it's wonderful to see the artist in you unfurl & have the confidence to paint big! It's a lot of fun & very liberating!

Please note we break in May for 3 weeks as the venue isn't available due to Brookfield Show. I will provide ideas to keep you going in that time!

Where: Brookfield Art Pavillion within Brookfield Showgrounds. 550 Brookfield Rd, Brookfield Brisbane.
Who: Suitable for beginners or practising artists. Honestly, this is for everyone!

Brookfield Art Pavillion is huge at 10x20m and we have heaps of room to stretch out & get messy with paint. Ive capped the class at 15 to ensure lots of one in one opportunities and room.
